Abstracts
The University Specialist Studies in Human Resource Management is a joint program of the Department
of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and the Faculty
of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb. This interdisciplinary program combines psychological
and economic competencies to provide a deeper understanding and broader knowledge necessary for the
effective management of human resources in modern organizations. The program is designed for individuals
from various backgrounds with completed university or professional graduate studies who wish to
specialize in human resource management or acquire the necessary knowledge for managing people within
organizations. It lasts three semesters, preceded by a preparatory semester for students lacking fundamental
knowledge in psychology, economics, and/or statistics. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics,
including recruitment and selection, human resource development, performance management, motivation,
compensation, labour laws, and industrial relations. Lectures are provided by professors from the Faculties
of Humanities and Social Sciences and Economics and Business, as well as the Faculty of Law, University of
Zagreb. Upon completion, students receive the academic title of University Specialist in Human Resource
Management. Five generations of students have already enrolled in the program, and applications for the
sixth generation are expected in the summer/autumn of 2024.
